One of Sweden’s regions is switching from a solution with a forwarded mobile phone to a stand-alone redundant mobile call group service for calls and text messages. The region has also chosen the MiniVoice call group service for the Officer on Standby function.
The region has been a user of MiniVoice with a function for avalanche messages with high call volumes in the event of disruptions in the regular switchboard system for several years.
The responsible system manager at the region explains why they chose MiniVoice:
– Previously, our Officers on Standby have used a separate mobile phone and forwarded the standby phone to another one that is currently in the possession of the employee on standby. There was no easy and secure way to see who the phone was assigned to in the group. In addition, text messages got “stuck” in the forwarded phone, and important information could go unmanaged.
“If one operator has temporarily reduced accessibility, the Officer on Standby can be accessed via another operator”
With the MiniVoice mobile call groups now in place, employees can easily see who is logged in for calls. In addition, everyone in the group sees text message conversations and who has taken the lead. Texts are answered in the MiniVoice app or via the web app.
– With the MiniVoice solution, the customer gets a redundant function as MiniVoice is connected to the major mobile operators in Sweden. If one operator has temporarily reduced accessibility, the Officer on Standby function can be accessed via another operator, Ove Känngård, CEO of Pre Greeting AB who owns MiniVoice, explains.
The phones connected in the group can have any subscription, regardless of operator. This solution is also open to connecting so-called roaming subscriptions, a form of subscription provided by operators when accessibility is critical.
– If there is an accident and the company phone ends up in the lake, the private mobile phone with another operator can be activated temporarily in an instant, says Ove and continues:
– A prerequisite for the region’s change was to integrate texts to the group in an easy-to-use way without compromising that data is not stored locally.
Texts are managed centrally in the service with encrypted communication to and from the MiniVoice app. A lost or stolen device has no local data that can harm the organization.
– We chose a new number for the Officer on Standby group, the same one for calls and texts. MiniVoice offered a number that is not linked to a geographical location, which suits us, as we have a wide spread of activities over several area codes. The choice was a 010 number for calls and texts, says the region’s customer’s system manager.
